  • CAIR: Gitmo to Synchronize Force-Feedings to Ramadan Fast (Miami Herald)
The advocacy group Council on American-Islamic Relations, in response to the suit, issued a statement of opposition to "force-feeding hunger-striking prisoners at the Guantánamo Bay detention camp, particularly during the upcoming month-long fast of Ramadan."
CAIR Action Alert:
Action: Ask NC Senate to Reject Anti-Islam Bill
(WASHINGTON, D.C., 7/3/13) -- CAIR is asking Muslims and all Americans concerned about the erosion of constitutional protections of religious freedom to contact state senators in North Carolina to urge them to vote against an anti-Islam bill when it is put to a vote later today.
TAKE ACTION: Contact the North Carolina Senate and ask that elected officials reject the anti-Islam bill.
The anti-Islam bill, HB 695, was passed by the North Carolina House earlier this year. The senate version up for a vote today has added several restrictions on abortion services.
"Like all the other anti-Islam bills introduced in state legislatures nationwide, this legislation is designed to marginalize and stigmatize a religious minority and will have a negative impact on the rights of people of all faiths and backgrounds," said CAIR Government Affairs Manager Robert McCaw.
Dozens of similar discriminatory and unconstitutional bills have been introduced in state legislatures nationwide.
Last year, CAIR released a community toolkit designed to assist those seeking to preserve America's ideal of religious pluralism in the face of the unconstitutional anti-Sharia campaign.
CAIR's toolkit includes background on David Yerushalmi, the anti-Islam extremist who authored the template for the anti-Sharia bills.
Yerushalmi is head of the anti-Islam hate group Society of Americans for National Existence (SANE), which once offered a policy proposal that would make "adherence to Islam" punishable by 20 years in prison, called for the immediate deportation of all non-citizen Muslims and urged Congress to declare war on the "Muslim Nation," which SANE defined as "all Muslims." The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) named Yerushalmi a member of the "anti-Muslim inner circle."
