  • CAIR: Reject NSA Domestic Spying by Opposing FISA Improvements Act
    The FISA Improvements Act would legalize the very same NSA surveillance programs that Federal District Court Judge Richard Leon last Monday was ruled likely unconstitutional. In his opinion, Judge Leon said that the government's "almost Orwellian" collection of American phone records seemed to be a violation the Fourth Amendment's ban of unreasonable searches and seizures.

She says after the hijackings -- and the immediate backlash against Muslims -- Muslims began to reach out to outside communities to explain who they were. And many non-Muslims grew more curious about Islam.
  • CAIR-CA: Yamada Issues Statement on Bullying of Muslim Students
    Assemblymember Mariko Yamada (D-Davis) issued the following statement Dec. 19 on the release of a report by the Council of American-Islamic Relations entitled "Growing in Faith: California Muslim Youth Experiences with Bullying, Harassment and Religious Accommodation in Schools": "To read that half of the Muslim children surveyed reported verbal or physical attacks based on their religious background is truly disheartening. Students of every faith should be safe from bullying, and should have access to justice when it occurs."
