CMEP Network Conference Call with Nathan J. Brown
After Gaza: Challenges Facing Obama's Peace Efforts

CMEP is pleased to announce that Nathan Brown, a professor of political science and international affairs at George Washington University and a nonresident senior associate at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, will be the guest speaker for our next grassroots network conference call on Wednesday, February 18th at 12:30 pm EST.
As the aftermath of the recent violence in Gaza and southern Israel plays out between Fatah and Hamas and amidst Israeli politicians campaigning for Feb 10th elections, Dr. Brown will examine the implications for the Obama Administration's commitment to a robust Israeli-Palestinian peace effort.
Dr. Nathan Brown is a renowned expert on Palestinian politics and Israeli-Palestinian peace issues. He has written extensively on these issues, including most recently, "Pointers for the Obama Administration in the Middle East: Avoiding Myths and Vain Hopes".

SPEAKER BIO:
Nathan Brown, a nonresident senior associate at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and a professor of political science and international affairs at George Washington University, is a distinguished scholar and author of four well-received books on Arab politics. Brown brings his special expertise on Palestinian reform and Arab constitutionalism to the Endowment and his research interests also include Egyptian and Palestinian politics, legal reform in the modern Middle East, as well as democratization. Brown's most recent book, Resuming Arab Palestine, presents research on Palestinian society and governance after the establishment of the Palestinian Authority. Brown was previously a scholar in residence at the Middle East Institute. He has recently been a member of the international advisory committee on drafting the Palestinian constitution and consultant to the UNDP's program on governance in the Arab world.
