  • Video: Anti-Muslim Hate Comes to Fla. School Board Meetings (CAIR)
    In November 2011, a Tampa, Fla., high school invited a Muslim lecturer to speak about Islamic history and tradition to college level advanced placement students. When anti-Muslim extremists David Caton and Terry Kemple found out, they brought dozens of Islamophobes to spread lies, fear and hatred against Islam and Muslims at the school board meetings. This video shows just a few examples of those hate-filled views.

    Workplace religious discrimination takes many forms, said Amara Chaudhry, civil rights director for the Philadelphia office of [CAIR]. It can be overt discrimination from a boss against an employee or from another employee. It can take the form of rules disproportionately applied to a Muslim employee. But it can also be non-confrontational and almost unseen, Chaudhry explained.

    Asma Lori Saroya is co-founder and president of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, Minnesota (CAIR-MN), the state's only Muslim civil rights advocacy organization. She is a board member of the Minnesota Council of Nonprofit, was recognized as a Facing Race Ambassador by the St. Paul Foundation and was selected for MinnPost's YPN5Q, which spotlights the state's top young leaders. She received the IRG Community Leadership Award and the St. Catherine University Alumni Award.
