CAIR Submits Written Testimony for King Hearing
(WASHINGTON, D.C., 3/10/11) -- A prominent national Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization today submitted written testimony for the first of a series of hearings on Muslim "radicalization" by Rep. Peter King (R-NY).
[MEDIA NOTE: CAIR is monitoring today's hearing and will be available to respond following its conclusion. CAIR is also providing real-time Twitter commentary on the hearing at @CAIRNational. Tune in to the conversation at #KingHearings.]

The testimony, submitted by the Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and published online, includes information about the "troubling genesis" of the hearing and debunks Rep. King's false claims that "extremists" control most American mosques and that Muslims do not cooperate with law enforcement. It also debunks false allegations made today by Rep. King and Rep. Frank Wolf (R-VA) against CAIR.
CAIR's testimony also outlines how the organization's constitutionally-informed engagement with law enforcement undermines violent extremist narratives.
